I have a 1997 chevy 1500 with power windows and door locks.

You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed from there. I busted the outer door handle and was able to inspect the door latch. Hey guys my drivers side door will not open from the outside as well as inside. I gave it a good tug and the handle came off the door in my hand leaving the rest of the handle mechanism on the door.

Are there any tricks to open the door so i can finish my repair. The lock on my door still goes up and down as if it can be locked and unlocked. All linkage is in. I have also tried using my key in the keyhole on the outside but still nothing.

However when it is in the unlocked position i still cannot open my drivers door from the inside or the outside. It feels as if there is nothing there or no tension on anything. I know the door latch is broken my question is how do i open the door. I used the key to manually lock and unlock the door no success.

I climbed in the right side door and the door opened correctly from the inside. Cannot open my chevy truck door from the inside. I am in process of fixing it when the door shut. Got out and door would not open from outside.

The drivers inside handle broke. Im unable to take the door panel off with the door shut. Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch.
